World Quilt & Textile 2008
Entry forms are available from the Australian World Quilt & Textile coordinator Sue Dennis. Download and print a version of the entry form (Entry Form for World Quilt and Textile, Australian Entries) and post to Sue Dennis at 31 Shelley St, Sunnybank 4109 QLD or send a business size SSAE to 31 Shelley St, Sunnybank 4109 QLD. Entry submission deadline is mid May, notification mid June and delivery of quilts early July.
Cash prizes are given for traditional & innovative quilts, first, second & third. Other prizes include- Best of World, Best Use of Colour, Best of Country- first & second & Viewer’s Choice. In 2006 Beth Miller was first in Innovative with “Bogong Moths ”. Honorable Mention Traditional went to Vicki Jenkin for "Rose Rhapsody".
In 2006, 11 countries were represented. They were Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, South Africa, United Kingdom & the United States. A country must have 10 entries to qualify for the Best of Country award. “Small State - Big Wilderness ” by Marlene King was Australia’s best. Second place was "Wedge Tailed Eagle" by Julie Haddrick.
