Opal Fever OPAL FEVER ©

Australia’s National gemstone, the opal, captures the imagination with mysterious depths of colour. This is your chance to make a small quilt featuring this colourful stone which has been used by Sue in a number of her award winning quilts.

 

Divide & Conquer DIVIDE & CONQUER ©

DIVIDE AND CONQUER is a gentle class for those wishing to explore original design work but don’t know where to start. With your tutor as guide, you will create one or more small quilt tops in a day using easy design exercises.

Wholey Holes 1 WHOLLY HOLES AND OTHER EXPLORATIONS ©

A class for the adventurous as we chart new territory and create fabric, machine stitched from holes, on a soluble base, rub objects with oil sticks, print and use angelina fibres and paint in our work.

 

Leaf it Alone LEAF IT ALONE ©

Let nature provide the inspiration for our fabric printing. Using various leaves from your local area and textile paint we will experiment and print onto our base fabric creating individual cloth.

 

Dogs Down Workshop DOGS DOWN ©

Contrary to the title this workshop is not about dog obedience! DOGS DOWN © is an introductory class designed for anyone wanting to learn the secrets of innovative free-motion quilting.

The work of her geologist husband has taken Sue and her sewing machine to remote corners of Australia and the island of Sardinia, Italy. Let Sue take you on a journey through the beautiful scenery off the beaten track, of the Australian outback and see the quilts it has inspired.

 

The Wet Dry 1 AN AUSSIE GOES TO ATHENS, OHIO ©

One hour PowerPoint presentation.

From Mt Isa to Athens, Ohio, the life of a quilter is never dull. Sue Dennis, the Quilters’ Guild of NSW Scholarship 2006 recipient will talk about her experience at the Studio Art Quilt Associates conference- Bridging the Gap: Quilt World to Art World, the opening of Quilt National 2007 and her time spent in New York.

Please note - Originality is encouraged and assisted by Sue, so student's finished work will not necessarily be the same as the class samples shown.

WORKSHOP REQUIREMENTS

6 -20 in a workshop with enough tables for sewing & cutting for all to be comfortable. For the safety & consideration of all, no children please.

A table for my samples and sewing demonstration and a whiteboard. Design walls for pinning or taping samples of students work.

Good lighting, power extension leads taped down. Irons and ironing boards if required, please refer to individual requirement sheets.

Need to access water for the WHOLEY HOLES and LEAF IT ALONE workshop. Working tables to be covered in plastic.

Teaching and Lecture fees - On application. If cancelling a workshop please notify me three months in advance.

All meals, transport to & from teaching engagement & any intervening overnight accommodation to be paid for by booking group. When driving my car, transport costs for the return journey will be charged. Home billeting is fine if private room with ensuite in non-smoking home is available. No special dietary requirements.

Workshops run from 9am – 4pm. Please arrive ½ hour before class to unpack and settle in. Morning tea and lunch breaks built into workshops.
