My first encounter with the Cottonwood tree had me fascinated with the shape of its leaves. They printed beautifully. The large Cottonwood tree by the pond was losing its leaves as Fall temperatures dropped.  Many afternoons I stood under this very tree trying to catch a glimpse of elusive deer.

The large Oak trees at the Franch also provided the inspiration for several quilts in this exhibition.

The bark of the Oak, its protective barrier, is wonderfully textured. It provided the starting point for Guardian #1 and Guardian #2.

Each afternoon on my walk, my attention was gripped by the sea of tall grasses, bathed a golden pink by the fading light thus providing inspiration for Interlude.
